By utilising two 18V Li-ion batteries in series to supply power to the 36V DC brushless motor, the Makita DLS714 performs as well as any comparable mains powered mitre saw. The 190mm diameter blade and twin bar sliding mechanism allow accurate cuts up to 300mm wide in a single pass and 52mm deep. The saw is capable of mitres up to 57°, 45° bevels and compound cuts.
Grooving or trenching is possible using the depth limiter control. The saw features soft start and an electric brake, whilst the automatic speed control maintains efficiency under load. An LED indicator displays the state of each battery.
